Drug Interactions

This extensive drug, drug allergy, and herbal interaction analysis tool assists clinicians in making safer medication decisions at the point of care. Accessible from the blue toolbar, Interactions tool allows clinicians to enter a patient's entire regimen and known drug allergies, identify potential interactions, and obtain appropriate patient management steps. The analysis includes a summary of drug interactions with an assigned risk rating to identify the action steps necessary. Each letter designation (A, B, C, D, X) represents the severity level of the identified interaction. A detailed interaction monograph is displayed by clicking on the interacting drug name.

Drug Identification

Drug ID helps clinicians quickly identify unknown or unlabeled medications based on parameters such as imprint, dosage form, shape, and color. Powered by Medi-Span® data, clinicians have access to more than 13,00 unique images and nearly 58,000 unique imprints to help identify medications. Link to full drug monographs and additional support content when necessary.

Medical Calculators

The Calculators tool assists clinicians in making drug calculations and decisions for treating specific patient conditions. This module features over 130 medical formulas, clinical criteria sets, and decision tree analysis tools, including calculators from MedCalc 3000 as well as exclusive calculators unique to Lexicomp offerings. Accessible directly from the Lexicomp Online tool bar as well as fully integrated within the Lexi-Drugs database, calculators address weight-based pediatric ALS, dosing, dosing conversions, drip rates, organ function, TPN osmolarity determination, APGAR scoring, Child Pugh Classification, kidney filtration, and other issues for both adults and children.

Trissel's IV Compatibility

IV Compatibility module provides clinicians quick access to the Trissel's™ 2 Clinical Pharmaceutics Database by Lawrence A. Trissel to help them reduce risk and support safe IV compatibility decisions at the point of care. User-friendly and accessible from the blue Lexicomp Online toolbar, Trissel's offers real-time updates as new content is available, the ability to search by drug and by IV solution, in-depth content on the properties of more than 850 drugs and solutions, and over 76,500 compatibility results supported by more than 4,700 unique references.

Drug Comparisons

Using the Drug Comparisons tab in the blue toolbar, physicians and pharmacists can access two ways to compare a variety of data points: Monograph View allows users to compare four drug monographs side-by-side, and Data View allows users to build a customized table comparing up to four drugs. Available as part of the Formulary Decision Support Bundle.

Patient Education Module

The Patient Education module helps clinicians enhance compliance and reduce readmissions by providing patients with a wide range of easy-to-read information (written at a 5th-7th grade reading level) about their condition, treatments, and overall health. Our patient education handouts support compliance with Joint Commission standards and cover information on medications (adult and pediatric), diseases and conditions, labs and procedures, natural products, dental topics, occupational and physical therapy, discharge instructions, and health and wellness. Handouts are available in up to 19 languages and can be customized with the patient's name and clinician information.

Drug Reports

The Drug Reports tool allows healthcare professionals to quickly search for information on medications by known conditions and symptoms. Users can search for drugs by one or a combination of specified parameters, including indications, contraindications, and adverse events, to help decide whether medications should be ruled in or out of treatment plans. For additional information on each medication, users can link to Lexi-Drugs core drug information monographs from the generated list.

Drug Plan Information

Lexi-Drug Plans® provides the formulary status of medications for more than 5,500 prescription drug plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. This module may be customized, managed, and edited by an on-site client administrator.

Toxicology Information

Designed for healthcare professionals working in emergency and first-response situations, the Toxicology module provides immediate support for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of exposures and overdoses. It includes the Lexi-Tox database and a Household Products database, which combine to provide information on agents of toxicity, antidotes and decontaminants, and household products; access to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS); toxicology-specific calculators; and drug identification in one essential tool.
